I can't grasp why a sovereign nation (Indian Land) that has sacred ground and needs drinking water must have a pipeline right there. I must be missing something.

Profits trump need! If there is a buck to be made by the big boys, doesn't matter what destruction or trampling of rights have to happen, just the profit margin. Absolutely disgusting but I am heartened by the determination and resolve of everyone who stands with Standing Rock.

I just don't understand why it has to come through the usa if it's canadian oil being sold to china....and why are we paying for it?
