My daughter has had to deal with rust on her roses! It is unsightly! Let me know how it works on the marigolds, they are one of my favorite flowers! sam

Re: ChiffChaff

Goodness Bro not unless the can break glass and get in the greenhouse. Glad you are feeling better. I tried to get a gallon of paraffin to kill some weeds  but they wanted £7 in a gallon thin plastic can. When we first used oil for heating it was so cheap a Polish man we knew said he never turned his heater off . He just opened the windows if it was too warm. Quite a lot have solar panels on the roofs , but I have not bothered.

Re:

Yes but you see Kabu once flowers go to seed they go to pot. I might try the Chelsea chop on some of mine this season like the phlox and Michaelmas daisies it produces more stems of flowers. Go away Chumpet or you will start bragging again she said you ought to do more housework and not keep ogling the girls. You are thousands of years old. No Alright. Chumpet said can he have your photo for his collection. He means the purty one. No Chumpet she was younger and would have mesmerized you.

Re: Mom used to plant a border of marigolds around her garden

Your mum knew her onions Pat. She was a clever woman considering her trials..

Re: Katray

Well I am growing the tall ones as long as they last a week in water and are cheap folk will buy them. They do not seem to harbor any pests much, which is an asset as systemic sprays for bugs can still be in cut flowers, so it says on the net.

Re: FS

I myself am not familiar with marigolds.A person's conscious can tell them a lot.

Mom used to plant a border of marigolds around her garden

because their strong scent kept the rabbits away.

I like the easy air of your winding meandering style of writing.

C_C_T & Chumpet

Congratulations to you both, and dear Kabu, too! How wonderful that is! I'll check it out.

Mosquitoes don't like marigolds, so I sometimes use them outdoors. As for snowflakes, that's a beautiful poem. Again, congratulations.

well I never cut my flowers, they are for outside enjoyment. perhaps one or two in a bowl of mixed flowers.

Chumpet, be happy. You are famous now.
