Fine post! I like the power of poetry, to either move people to action or calm them when necessary! Shelly

Aba
First, it is amazing that we both wrote on the same topic. Well, not wrote, I only posted, you wrote. :) And you wrote very well, so beautifully, describing the achievement of sublimity riding the poetical wings of word power. Thank you. Quite an erudite post, dear Aba!

Re: Kabu
To me, the mark of really good poetry is that is DOES allow people their own interpretation, so your poems are really good!

I think the main trouble is that folk are so used to instant arousal by forms subconsciously crafted to create a sublime desire for things that most could do without.
Sadly most things are controlled by the perspective of gain. One can imagine in the old days the delight an informed person could achieve from beautifully crafted words. Even then I suspect one had to be either wealthy or sponsored by such to be enabled to display talent.

I find it a tragedy of the modern world that Poetry is so snubbed. Does it have something to do with the way we teach in our schools? asking kids to analyse and breakdown each line of a poem etc insted of just reading poems aloud to them so that they can see their own beauty, what they see/feel instead of what the teacher does.
I know that I have written poetry for here and been amazed at how different people find their own interpretation quite different to what I was feeling as I wrote.
