my son has been there several times but each time I was on pins and needles. He would tells us about the bombings going on while he was skyping! He is safe here and trust that your grandson and his platoon will all have each other's back! Prayers for his safe return.

I hope that this is rectified soon. Perhaps if all these government officials (representatives, senators, congressmen) had children fight it would be different.

My family has been lucky. None suffered from any PTSD or injuries. They have fought from WWI all the way up to the present.

Good to read your son is safe! My son has been dealing with PTSD since he left Afghanistan nearly 4 years ago! So sad! sam

One would expect respect after offering one's life for a country. It never happens if the damage is not apparent. In fact as you may know even in WW1 soldiers were shot for walking away from the trenches from shell shock. I remember years ago an old gentleman with breathing difficulties from mustard gas said he once wandered off in a daze
and probably would have been shot as a traitor but a bullet hit his leg and he was treated as injured. Winning is all that counts.
