My sisters and i went to all of the war movies and pretty much anything that came along. It was a once-a-week outing and I think Mom was glad to get us out from under her feet for a while. I think she thought we needed to learn about stuff like that. Of course the war movies back then weren't anything like some of the more modern ones. Blood didn't show up too badly in black & white.

This is the stuff you write best, and I love to read it!

I suppose some things a soldier has to block out, maybe even a bit ashamed when confronted with the normal way of life. One probably does not talk of war after living it.

I love this story. I could read a whole book made of this sort of snippets or vinaigrettes from real life back then. To me it is the color knitted into the pattens of a persons life.

P.S. My 2017 resolution is to write better, and to focus on
what is real and good in my view, which means nothing about politics, terrorism or that cold chill that's creeping down my spine...
