How does one say goodbye after al life time together. good years bad years they all blend in to make a life's pattern that only each other knows.

Re: Must be so hard to lose someone when you're at 100,

Do you know Pat A carer charges at least £20 an hour here. More than a gardener. I do not think the old gentleman can comprehend what has truly happened.

Re: RPresta

Thank you RP. it is usually along now that the spirit gives up. At least the old gentleman is quite lucid.

That is an impressive neighbor to have. The oldest neighbor I have is 86. He will be 87 in March...Sometimes, the magic suddenly ends.

Hard to give away the magic, I would imagine! Lovely poem. And sorry about Archie's neighbor's wife passing. It may be an unsettling time for the man, not to mention Archie!

Must be so hard to lose someone when you're at 100,

especially after you've had them by your side for so many years. It's hard to know where one starts and the other begins.  I hope he does ok, and Archie keeps in touch.

The poem is lovely but kind of sneaks up on you at the end. Nice work.
