Hmm! I suppose one has to think from the companies point of view. A case of the stuff would be nothing to them, but they might change the design eventually.

I have a feeling that with a few more people having similar incidents to what you are having, the company will undergo a redsign of that product.
I guess whoever you ended up at the company just did not think about offering a free product.
