some do for various reasons...to have once been poor makes you hoard to never feel that way again....my mom grew up during the depression

A very human trait, never thinking one has enough. Some who really have plenty are scared to death to spend any of it. When my Mom was very old, she reverted to the Great Depression poor days and worried so much about being poor. My K.C. Sis and I were her POA's and we wouldn't let her get by with that.
