It goes in cycles throughout history. Women get some say in their lives and then the laws are changed and they lose it again. I see very little difference in what the Muslims think of women than the way so called Christians behave. If they stopped to read the real teaching of Jesus, he put women first.
Your story is very disturbing, for that sort of control spreads very quickly. There aren't really many Wiley's in this world.
