Re: Lanetay
I know there may be con tricks as well and it never wise to do direct debits.

CC, something is amiss with these final lines (?) Or, did you mean "too"?
"
I just cannot resist something to tame
That’s the wife shouting, ‘Get into bed!’ "
Otherwise, why tame her? Just get there as quickly as those sailor legs will go. Or maybe use those soldier limbs to effect. ShalomAmen

Re: RPresta
Thank you, I don't give more than I can afford, and one has to be careful about tax. My sister once signed for tax to be reclaimed when she was working . She only mentioned it to the charity shop recently and said she not paid tax for years.. It appears that the charities will keep claiming the tax forever and in the small print reveals that the donor will be liable for any tax over-repaid. She will not be amused if she gets a bill from the Tax Office.

Re:
Thanks Naut, The trouble with charities they are all fighting for the same amount of free money. At least one I send too say their promotions are two and a half percent which I suppose is reasonable for a Hospital.

Yes, with the snowfall come the flurries of requests for donations - it's seasonal, and one does wish one's means were unlimited...But the poem is delightful - another one for the Collection...

It is a blessing to be able to share with those who are in need. I can't pass a Salvation Army Bell Ringer's red pot at holiday season without dropping something in. It lifts my spirit somehow.

One must be careful when donating to charities. Also, quite a cute poem with a fun ending.

I think that we have given enough through the year. With our income shrinking a bit enough is enough.

I've given to charities in the past, and recently saw a post
on Facebook pointing out only 10Cents of every dollar actually gets to the folks being served, and the fund managers earn hundreds of thousands in salary plus perks. And they do share your info - just like the hoboes of old who'd mark your gatepost if you fed them so the next guy coming along the street knew he could score a free meal, too. It's getting easier and easier to throw their envelopes of "free labels and calendars" into the recycling bin.
