Anything one can do to prevent suicide, or to help or work with one who has tried, is well worth the effort. My very first hospital patient as a nurse was a teen girl who had taken all of her mother's bottled prescription meds in an attempt. She was found in time, and the first time I saw her she was in four-point leather restraints and covered with charcoal vomit from treatment. My whole shift I was her one-on-one, sitting at all times with her in sight when I wasn't doing something for her.

It is a slippery slope and once one crosses the line it is hard to stop a person from doing it.

Open dialogue and resources - much needed, thank you for that for those who need them.

No one talks about much, I think if one fears oneself might succumb that is a good preventive. It used to be so easy with the domestic gas ovens, but thankfully no longer.
