Neither telephones nor those hand-held games the kids play have places at our family table. You'll maybe be missing the group until your next session starts?

Winter Solstice has long been a sacred time celebrated by many faiths,
And Jesus was likely born in the spring, during the lambing time, or shepherds would not have been 'watching their flocks by night' but the early Christians appropriated the Saturnalia in Rome to camouflage their celebrations of the birth of Christ. The point is, it has never been only a Christian time to celebrate holy days. So... Happy Holidays is not only 'politically correct,' it might be considered a social courtesy.

I like Son #1 and his and wife's attitude. It is not arguable. No one would dream of using a phone at the dinner table. And it is Christmas not a Holiday. In fact. I believe it should be Christians who Celebrate the day, same for Easter. I also believe that the gift thing has gone way out of control. Not doing it this year except to a couple of folks that I want to say thank you to for what they do for us. And then tokens only.

Well, you know me - I do take stands! And I totally agree with the lady who knows it's not the guy with the pitchfork but the fools in the grip of PC who have decided Merry Christmas is no longer 'appropriate'...And I also agree with the grandma, phones at the dinner table are defintely a no-no...
