Re: ReKabu

it is fun though to build a fire and burn  straw Guy. We loved it as kids had no idea when I was little who or what it represented but then it all suddenly made sense and since we were terribly British, it was even better.

Re: Shobana

I would rather stand by a good fire than watch fireworks. We used to roast potatoes not very successfully.

You are right about the prices of fireworks and firecrackers these days. You would think twice about buying them for sure and anyway reading about the cat who gets the humans riled up with their antics are far more exciting I think.

Re:RPresta

Yes Guy Fawkes. poor chap was caught and probably suffered for his possible crime. He must have been more disillusioned with the government than most are now. Thank you.

Re:Pat

You always seem to be in front of us organising events one of the problems used to be that when anyone built a large bonfire vandals would try to light it before the day,

Re: adnohr

Well it must be safer than here, last year Bonfire smoke covered a motorway and caused serious accidents . Glad you like the poem, let blogit know how the dogs are doing when you have time.

I have neighbors that shoot off fireworks once in a while. They are against the law to be done in a neighborhood, but they do it, anyway.

I am liking the cat poem a whole lot.

Fireworks every summer week at the Expo 67 site in Montreal. It's a competition, with each country showing off what they can do on a weekly schedule, then a winner picked by judges. Draws quite a crowd. I agree with the others for the poems. You have outshone yourself again, sir!

I used to take my kids down to the flour mill alongside the Mississippi

because that was the best spot to watch the fireworks. The city of Alton would hire a team of experts to set up on a barge north of the Clark bridge, and people on both sides of the mile-wide Mississippi would gather at dusk... These days I'm content with whatever bits they show on TV. I like both poems - so many inferences and images...

can't have Guy Fawkes this time of the year in Australia any more. They finally realized some where in the 70's that such a hot dry time of the year was causing fires. Duh!!!!!!

Actually fire works done at tax payers expense is the best spectacle

I had to look up why the fireworks! It is always nice to see them. Your poem is indeed one of many dimensions, and so creatively told! Quite nice.

CCT

The poem indeed is multi-dimensional-illusory - one for the Collection! And of course I love TAPS' cat...

Money up in smoke...

For the 4th of July, local taxes pay for a big, free display here; kind of nice for many, but others complain about it.

The poem is slinky-ish well done and mysterious, like a cat.
