Re: According to my sources...

It is no problem Ciel he is quite snug and I wonder if there are two. My brother did look up how to feed smaller ones. The nearest place they suggested was 200 miles away.

Anyway I think it is better off where it is and I'll tack some wire along the bottom of the gate in Spring. My sister said they sometimes see one on the road and I told her to put it in a box and bring it here. Your daughter will have other things on her mind I expect. As I said it it the lights everywhere that confuses them. I expect this little chap will eat on and off through the winter, but it soon goes back into the straw nest after feeding.

According to my sources...

Your spiny buddy is about ready for winter hibernation, busy packing on fat to survive until spring, and what you're feeding is exactly right to do that. If you don't want to keep looking after it, I'm sure Marika could put you in touch with someone happy to take on the task of over-wintering and then releasing in a less-trafficky area come spring.

Re: FS

Thank you FS. It is always interesting to me to learn what weather conditions prevail in different areas.

Re: RPresta

Well not to the point of cuddling them RP. Yes that's the same breed, many folk are nervous of them, but they use them for Blind people and of course they are brilliant guards. Sadly dogs do not live long enough and I used to feel so sad losing each one that I decided not to have another.

Re: Shobana

True Shobana, I mean some say I am hungry enough to eat a horse but they don't think about the four horse shoes,

Re: shamasehar

We do grumble sometimes when it is very warm, but always look forward to sunny days, thank you.

Re UKUSA

I am afraid life is cruel at times as you know and perhaps it was the dog he was after. I will try not to be supercilious in future. Once I made a promise to the Lord and failed to keep it. I was only a child but it worried me at times.

Re: I've got to look up hedgehog on Google. I think I may have

You might be lucky Pat/ They do eat slugs and the occasional snail, but they really prefer a little plate of cat's food not fish or milk. Of course they should not be wandering around now,but like the birds and children artificial light stimulates.

Re: Kabu

Well dearie I don't mind feeding a hungry cat, but sometimes they hang around the shrubs trying to nobble the little birds. They look too well fed to be strays, just bored and looking for mischief. Hedghogs just potter around like me.

I am afraid, CC, I do enoy yr writings ... but not the conclusions, when

there's diabolical laughter or not. I am boring Old Testament ... maybe a poem next time, instead of a Psalm. shalom - or salaam!

CCT

I didn't know people made pets of hedgehogs. Did I understand that right? Alsatians, we call them German Shepherds (GSD) here. I had one and just loved him! Interesting poem!

We have had a first frost, but that has been it. Definitely not the typical October and November thus far...That is a very wise conclusion that of which you have come up with.

I've got to look up hedgehog on Google. I think I may have

had one move in under my back deck... Saw something I've never seen before, and it may well be a hedgehog. It's been summer warm here, the furnace has not come on for ten days or so, usually we get sleet and snow this time of year, but there was a warm rain yesterday...

i am so happy that the hedgehog...Fred i think you called him, is doing well. No cats are naughty creatures. They will plead hunger, you feed them and then they go home for  Supper.
