The basket is a good idea. Also, placing the traps where there is nothing nearby to go under or into.

With my animals, I would not dare use poison, and glue traps don't kill, they trap and starve, so I will 'stick' with the old fashioned snap traps.

We bought the glue traps and toms mice and rat poison. that poison is fast!

Yes much better to trap, but even so I always cover the trap with a basket etc. This is if the mouse is not killed instantly it can drag the trap underneath furniture etc. It is bad enough having to kill it if it is caught by its foot ,but far worse for it to suffer until it dies of starvation.`Life is cruel, nothing is perfect.

a trap is quicker. Graysome prefers to play and release. Poor mouse usually dies from a heart attack from fear. Wiley has a couple of traps where mice come in.
