Here's SALUD! real health to body & spirit (BTW, great article - Bible condemns sexual perverts for a reason). Greek civilization actually thought women were boring, their bodies "uninteresting ... nude males, the height of beauty"! It had to die.

shalom, shalom. Use organic honey instead of sugar; or in warm water 3X daily.

Balance is indeed the best option. There may be a thin line between art and life but sometimes the line has to be drawn.

Re: Aba
Some things are just not art at all, but since this story is probably autobiographical there is honesty in its moody morose silence and sufferings. Yes I have had to teach this novella to my post radiate students, majors that you call.

Here's extending you a warm welcome, and a thank you for reading my contributin. You observe rightly that Aschenbach was not happy with his obsessin and that many predators after assaulting, feel no guilt or remorse. I too will visit your blog.

Re: Kabu
in the times they wrote all these literatures, war was in the offing and people were confused and scared. So anything unnatural may have been natural, the times of fear does make one's senses go off balance. This is my understanding.

Re: Shobana
I do fully agree with you on this that it must have been a difficult tale to tell in those times, however frank and honest they may have been with themselves.

Aba
Dear Aba, I ditto Kabu, times two, and FSI! It is a difficult tale to hear, and must have been a difficult tale to teach, if one had to teach it, especially in previous times. And some things just are not art, though they may be artistically and intellectually presented. LOL! Good job of telling the tale.

What I'm pleased about is the fact that he keep his physical distance from this boy that he found to be so breathtakingly beautiful; he didn't seem pleased by his love for this child, but just the opposite of being pleased. Many predators are without regrets for their inappropriate behaviors or can't say they looked, but didn't touch a child.

I had problems with this for although I have no trouble accepting homosexuality I have huge problems with all underage sexual encounters. Pedophilia and stalking are criminal activity. This is life that has to be checked, I don't see it as Art.

I think this must have been a hard story to tell in an age where homosexuality was forbidden and shirked much less cursed. The conflicts therein were stated with much agony for sure.
