Re: Taps

Well they entertain visitors, sometimes it is better than hearing the same things over and over.

Re: Ciel

Well Ciel I think some birds would eat suet, but it would have to be on a surface. Sometimes they ignore bread here unless I throw it on the garage roof and then the more nervous rooks and magpies will take it. I did catch a couple of mice there were dead but a rook took one and was eating it on top of a telegraph pole.

Re: Shobana

I think birds such as swallows and swifts feed mainly in the air on flying insects. Any mice around they would not mind a breakfast of rice. Yes Teak is expensive Shobana it is why I never sit on a hot stove,

I would raise my hand to salute you Naut, but I need someone to pull the strings.

Re: Pat

Yes I know you have that problem with squirrels. We only have a couple and they never come in close, well unless they do at night,

Re: C_C_T

Thank you RP. I did read that some warblers that usually winter in warmer climes have been seen. Apparently small groups do this, it is natures way of providing for the species. I only hope it is the forecast of a mild winter.

Re Kabu:

Well we don't see many in the summer, but they are just coming back now even one with a bald head which we called Archie.

Re: Wiley.

Well now I have not got a cat, I can let them become tame Bro.

It's not cheap to feed the birds, and it is no fun to clean up after them, but they certainly are fun to watch, and I love listening to their various sounds.

I love bird listening and watching and used to love feeding them

Can't ambulate easily around the yard anymore but I have great neighbors who keep our winged population well fed. Interesting and creative mix, C C T - puppets and poetry; teak is an attractive and sturdy wood; good choice..:)

I enjoy the birds that visit here, seems a different kind each season. But the one time I hung out suet for them, the birds didn't care for it, it went rancid and smelled nasty.

It does seem like the cost of everything is going up these days...I like the use of the puppet imagery. Very clever.

I tried to feed the birds once with rice grains. Swallows I think - they used to sit on the palm leaves outside my house. I put it under the tree outside and each time I went out I looked to see if they were gone, but it took a couple of weeks before they went missing - I don't know if it was the cleaners who swept it away of if any one of the birds got a taste of it...lol. Gosh so much for my experience! I loved the puppet poem - if only a puppet on a string! Just make sure there's no fire and isn't teak wood expensive CC?

Feeding birds is a good thing, but becoming a puppet I don't know about that one.

CCT

We're trying to feed the birds - and we even succeed sometimes! But it's the squirrels and chipmunks that get fat around here...And it's intereting to meet you in your recent inlignation...

I used to feed the birds - esp in winter, but the arbor where I

used to hang up the feeder has been taken down. The bird feed attracts squirrels, and that's not good for them, considering there's a guy next door with a trap. I liked your comment that pigeons are thick... always thought so.

C_C_T

The birds here have plenty to eat so one never need feed them. And yes, pigeons are a bit thick. Wouldn't want them around. My favorite here is Lady Hawk and her mate. Your poem is so clever and true, with just the right amound of levity. Very entertaining to read.

we don't feed them in the Summer. That is peanut time for Chipmunks. There are so many trees and grasses here for summer diet but of course the Winter costs us a pretty penny. LOL
