Re: Re:

Here they call it Waldorf Salad because years ago it was a specialty of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City.

Re: An apple a day, as they say...:)

No indeed Kat. The reason it is a job to escape I suppose is because it is so thrilling to feel something for someone that one could never endow one's self with.

No dear the first is my rambling about the things affecting the garden. I do this because poetry is a pain in the bottom for some folk. It gives the chance to express everyday happenings in my small world. I like the photo, you have a good eye.

Re: RPresta

Sadly when we have loads of apples I never feel like eating them, and then in the winter when ours have gone,I get a craving for a nice apple and they are mostly like cotton wool. I did read your suggestion thank you. Unfortunate are some who go there and wish they had not later. The trouble is people change and one does not know that when one is young.

Re: FS

Yes as the mother said to me, you can take my daughter out if you want too, I suppose I was not enthusiastic enough the next time she was rather rude. Best to watch the mothers,

Re:

Never heard of a salad like that Taps, I suppose one becomes used to different tastes. Fortunately we rarely hear gun fire only fireworks.

Re: shobana

Thank you Shobana I guess we have all been there, I expect your apples are quite sweet,  I could pick some late raspberries tomorrow ,but I like the apples better.

Re: These days I like apples "baked" in the microwave... Brown sugar,

It is the crows that make a mess here Pat banging the nuts on the roofs to crack them.

The squirrel is a minor problem it is one left from dozens that were chewing all the flowers in the cemetery, they had to be eliminated.

Re:

Yes I know it is easier to buy some lovely walnuts shelled from Chili, but I take these as a memory.  I might give the squirrel one or two if it comes in winter.

Re: Wiley

Well the crows here won't eat apples Bro, I have never seen them eating one.

An apple a day, as they say...:)

Your poem brims with true feelings and flows beautifully, CC. Escape is a wise thought, I suppose, but not always possible.

Apples are among my favorite fruits...I know what you mean about those escape route thoughts.

Everyone should have an escape route in mind.  I heard shooting abit ago, not too far away....a dozen or so shots.  Then there were police sirens shortly thereafter.  I hope it was just a midnight target practice, but now I hear more sirens.
I've been working on some of Son's apples from his three apple trees.  They are very tasty.  I made a nice apple/net/celery salad for tomorrow.

Apple pies are one of my favorites CC and the poem depicts a wide range of emotions - loved reading it and getting into the mood of it.

When I was little my mom occasionally baked apples as you described. I do that also once in a great while. You poem is splendid in its honest feelings and vividly true describtions. Yep, been there. Perhaps we all have at some time or another.

Powerful messages, even when they appear 2 b simple memories, conversation.

Were these two poems, somehow linked by a white stanza?

These days I like apples "baked" in the microwave... Brown sugar,

a bit of cinnamon & butter. Or a bit of carmel syrup as a dip with sliced fresh ones.  As for the walnuts, the squirrels make a terrible stain on porch rails and sidewalks if I don't beat them to the nuts and toss them in a barrel.

i would be bringing the walnuts inside too. Mother used to make wonderful baked apples like you described.
