Re: Re: Re: Aba

Ah, yes, I thought it was something like that. That was a complaint about the book, its length. Excellent for study though. So many literary topics and points to ponder. My thought is, did Fowles consciously or purposely write the story with all the study factors of today in mind, or did those topics evolve over the course of time. Simple ideas, like Femininism, were probably intentional. I do hope the students are well-prepared, for you will know those who are not! Happy reading, deat Aba!

Re: Re: Aba

Oh I meant a novel I am teaching to Masters students, John Robpert Fowles' The French Lieutenant's Woman. It was suddenly allotted to me in the university and starting September, I have to finish it by October end. There are 61 chapters of which I have till now done only twenty-five. I have just two hours a week with them.

Re: Aba

I hope you meant you are reading a poem that doesn't seem to finish, other than this one! LOL! About Prometheus Unbound, Shelley took a quite a while to write it, I believe, writing a bit at a time. No TV or social media, combined with living in an Age of Romanticism, would tend to foster the writing of voluminous poetry, or plays, even at a young age. I think it was an era where conversation, written or verbal, was prized as an intellectual achievement.

Re: C_C_T

So very sorry I didn't respond sooner. Don't know how I missed doing so. Must have been the headache. Thank you. Yes, I hope the horse would approve!

Re: TAPS

Thanks, TAPS! Guess I'm still there... LOL! So glad you enjoyed it! Yes, I used to love to read them also. My guilty pleasure. Still now, I have a propensity to them, but not onrd too fluffy these days.

Hi Presta and wow! Reading a poem that just doesn't seem to finish. And then there are others that make you feel sad because they do, so soon, although long. I fancy Shelly's Prometheus Unbound. How could he have written such a voluminous poetry at so young an age?

Re: UKUSA.

Thank you, UKUSA. And shalom to you. Glad you enjoyed it. For such an ancient breed, time and place seemed to not exist for this poem. Hope you are not near the hurricane!

Re: Nautikos

Thanks, Naut! This horse deserved some sort of poem. I do love horses also; always keep a horse calendar somewhere. You were lucky to be around them. Bicycles are not quite the same fun, to me anyway! LOL!

Re: Aba

Hello, dear Aba. Such a nice, nice compliment, and I do so enjoy Tennyson, though I haven't read him too much lately. And reviewing The Lady..., I do see what you mean. Coincidentally I have been working on a different "island" poem, that just doesn't seem to want to finish being written, though it's in a similar vein. Thank you.

Royalty and Loyalty in an animal - horse, or any wonderful pet.

Loved how you crafted it, and added the main (mane) applications across place and time. You will anticipate, any royalty-loyalty reminds of the best EXAMPLE: Jesus of Nazareth! shalom, shalom RPresta.

Great poem and picture! I love horses, spent time around them as a boy and rode them, and regret that I am pretty well confined to bicycles these days, LOL...

Hello my dear Presta

Very beautifully done, on the medieval Knight-at-arms. It was a perfect smooth ballad style poem, and reminded me of Tennyson's The Lady of Shalott, centring on the Arthurian knight Sir Lancelot.
