Re: Re: KABU

Life stinks and then we die....but there are roses and sunshine and making snow angels so I suppose it isn't all bad.

Re: C_C_T

Actually he told me RP. Not a thing one would ask normally. Of course parents with an interest usually try to encourage the children to follow the same career as themselves.

Thank you if you find it, I would be quite interested.

Wow! What a totally interesting post! Sorry about the loss of someone and the resultant funeral. No fun. So I take it you asked your father that question in relation to your mother? I almost thought you meant had there been someone else before your mother... My g-uncle had trudged through the fields of France also during WWI. As to inheritance, genetic links as you mention, I have a link somewhere supporting the beginnings of a theory like that, at least in part, and will look for it for you. Theory only, operative word, I suppose, at this point.

Re: Pat

Yes I know Pat, later in life my Father would moan a bit about my Mother. The trouble was he had always been treated lovingly. My Mother never had that luxury.

Re: Taps

Well we were never allowed to swear, or say rude things. I expect we did when we were away from home though. Little things crease the mind.

Re:

Yes eventually Chuck parents will probably just be donors in the so called civilized world.

We are only at the dawn of change.

Re: KABU

If there is a grievance someone is to blame usually the person who has been the most attentive and loving. It is no use blaming someone who didn't give a damn, it would not have the same compulsive force behind it. I have just witnessed the same behavior nearer to home.

Re: CCT

Well I would like to dispute such evidence Naut. Although a lot of talent and interests are probably derived from parents influencing children from the start. Pity my father had an interest in poultry.

Yes I suppose we get our talents and gifts from our mom, well in any case just for your info, there was a study done and it was established that children get their intelligence from their Mother!! So there..

Any war shapes the lives of those who live throuhgh it, aside from ending the lives of many...As to this notion of a Lamarckian inheritance, while still popuar in some circles, is not well supported by scientific evidence...

I agree Bro, we inherit things like feelings etc from our parents.

Sometimes, the sadness after a funeral hits us later...A clever response by your father...With war, I guess it almost becomes expected.

Humans get used to anything - even words that can be said or not!

Old-fashioned values may appear quaint, but they hold the keys to identities, and in the case of the USA, why it succeeded against great odds in 1776, or even before.

I am sorry for your loss, CC. I loved your original expression: "volunteered to be turned into mud" in World War II. (One can always say a prayer that Jesus/LORD GOD will mysteriously save the departed soul for His Kingdom, out of His great mercies.

I never ever said a word against their father to my boys and never will Martin knows his dad without me saying anything. Cameron last year blamed me for everything wrong in his life. I think he wanted money from a stone.  You can never really get it right where kids are concerned. Cheer up old man. The fairies will be dancing tonight.

Values and ethics are going away. It's the new internet age that is taking control of our kids and the new generations.

I definitely think we do also.  It is the way of life.  When I was growing up, our Dad would not let us call anyone a liar.  It was not used in our house.  It is the first thing I thought of when I tried to read Naut's post with the title "Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire" and then Justi's comment.  I'm afraid I went away without commenting there.

Sometimes our parents try to "protect" us from the stuff they're having

to deal with - which can have the affect of making us inconsiderate and selfish, when we could actually have been a comfort if we'd been aware. Who knows which is the best for all concerned?
