That is why I much prefer a business to run a sale for at least a week and to announce it at least a few days in order to allow for budgeting.

I would put aside some of the SS money with my tithes, and thus have it safe! Many people put their ten percent/+/- offerings in an envelope and divide it over the number of Sundays, from the storage envelope (So long as U recall where its kept!)

They are mean and it shows their greed and lack of care for the poorer folks.
I just had a win. Last night I was "wndow" shopping a Canadian store and put some items in my trolley. Then at about 11.pm I decided it was going to cost too much so I clicked out. Feeling depressed today I clicked back in...a bit of retail therapy. Well suddenly there was this 24 hour quick sale on ...finishing at 11.00pm!!! I got $70 off my bill so I bought. I am reckoning that they were trying another way to get me to buy. It worked.
