Mankind will never change as long as their lust and greed for money can be satisfied through war

Re: Fascinating and thought provoking...
Katray, you ask, is there some kind of instinct involved. Indeed so, and convoluted by his intelligence, desires, oneupmanships, trying to Lord it over things, dedeity greed and have what you will. All negativities, those that are not found in any other species.
Thank you for reading And commenting.

Re: INteresting. In high school, I was taught that Yeats studied Indian YUGAs
I didn' know that Yeats knew the cyclical Yugas Of the Hindus. The present, Kali has an age of 432000 years. Dwapar, the previous, 864000, Treta, the one before Dwapar, 1296000, and Satya yuga 1728000 years, adding up to a Chaturyuga or Mahayuga of 4320000 years. That is an interesting subject I might write on, someday. Thanx a lot.

Fascinating and thought provoking...
I always wonder why some humans have an embracing propensity for violence and others are repulsed by it. I love the poem and enjoyed the information and interpretation. I think about well fed, domesticated cats who have no need to hunt and kill, yet if they are out of doors for any length of time, they will stalk and kill birds and baby rabbits seemingly for the sport of it. Humans will do so too, hunt and kill not for survival but because they enjoy the act of doing so, consider it fun - trophy hunting of lions, the deer and other wildlife "thinning" that goes on everywhere - is some kind of instinct involved? If so, I'm surely thankful it bypassed me.

INteresting. In high school, I was taught that Yeats studied Indian YUGAs
or cyclical time, where the entire creation is repetitive in four rather different dispensations, the present being "Kaal" which is time-bound, and most selfish. I know WHO helps me cope with this world, and grants me A Peace Beyond Human Understanding. Shalom to Love, as you kindly commented on my last post.

Aba
Your post and the poem you mention, cover so many points. One should keep Ireland in 1914, 1916, and 1919 in mind, I think, in thinking about this poem and your post. What hasn't changed, I think, is the dance humans do in regard to war. The 'terrible beauty" is Yeats' view at that time. And to me, in his context is different than wars of recent times. Yeats was Irish, and in a way, nothing's changed. My mom said, "Times chance, people don't." It still fits.

Re: TAPS
That is so. I like the way the poets paint, and I do have a crush on their brush.

Re: Great Post yet again, and you have set my brain alight... again.
You have had to undergo a lot of painful experiences in life. Now that you are with sir Wiley, the pair makes for a peaceful living and we are all happy for that. I found your rooster example quite interesting.

Re:
Very true, it is the savagery in humans that can hardly be eliminated. No other animal ever indulges in unnecessary killings.

Great Post yet again, and you have set my brain alight... again.
I was born as WW11 was ending. There has been no peace in my life time. Some countries have had periods of peace, probably 25 years is about average time for peace.
My Country appears on the surface to have been a haven. For me it was. I was born with a heritage of Northern European Blood. I was taught that the White Australia policy was correct for peace in my country and that the original people of our land had no culture of their own, were little more than animals. I was also taught that Catholics were evil and that wherever there was an Irishman there was trouble.
There was the Colombo plan where other people who were part of the British Commonwealth ....Indian actually ...were welcome to come to Australia to study if their families could pay, but that they could not stay beyond their study times.
There was a number on how many displaced Jewish people could migrate to Australia, even Europeans were limited. people from the UK were really encouraged to migrate, for 10 pounds they could be brought by ship to become new white Australians.
Australia is now a multinational country, well in the big cities anyway.
So what am I saying here? That the sort of thinking that was in vogue when I was a child was just as discriminative, just as ugly as more overt racial profiling is anywhere else.
Humans are like two roosters with a wire fence between them. Those roosters will fight themselves to a standstill, death even, just because someone like them is behind that fence and must be got rid of. Senseless behavior.

Its a new age of terror as we face it in 2016 Aba but what remains is the brutality and the misguided reasoning behind the every conceivable war going on. Right now we face a new kind of terror with new technological advances in combating it but the savagery remains.
