Re: pendorin
It is a tribute to my Dad who always taught us the poem by Sam Walter Foss,
....Let me live in my
house by the side of the road
Where the race of men go by-
They are good, they are bad, they are weak, they are strong,
Wise, foolish- so am I.
Then why should I sit in the scorner’s seat
Or hurl the cynic’s ban?-
Let me live in my house by the side of the road
And be a friend to man.

Some homeless got lost from family that really want to know where they are. Inmates from asylums that have been defunded often end up on the streets, and their relatives were not informed. Some of these folks live in such a closed, personal world, they don't know how to get back to their people, or they believe they are not wanted, that their families would be disgusted and ashamed of them. Some families go to some lengths to trace their lost children. Some don't.

It is really amazing that a country like America can have many homeless people.I suppose it could be worse in some countries they probably just perish. If you feel up to it you could have a go perhaps repeats if you have them, not many of the present guys were around at that time.

actually Lanetray and I share the same ideas about a village of tiny houses. I would add a center where they sign in and pay something anything that they can towards being there. The center would need to include Dr or Clinical Nurse avaliablity. Lots of nurses including retired like myself would gladly give a few hours a week.
I like your idea of a blog. Write it in fiction if you have to if someone is going to be upset or picky.

I think some homeless want to be homeless and others just find themselves that way. What I think cities should do is build those small houses and set the homeless in them but at the same time they have to be willing to get out and find work even if it is just to help other homeless

Very sad
I live in a very small town in Alberta. Here too you will find homeless people atnight. It is sad and hard to explain to my children, why things happen. Sometimes theres no real answer.

Baltimore has a huge homeless problem as well. Hopefully, homelessness can get solved. That would be interesting to bring back the fictional series about the homeless person.

It's a huge problem, exacerbated by the fact that many of them suffer from mental health conditions for which we also have no adequate treatment facilities...

Re: Justi
That is great! Churches should be involved. Some here are, but it is a big problem, especially as the weather turns ever colder.

Our county is far different than your big city but we have an agreement with most of the churches in the entire county. One church offers a shower, sleeping space, evening and morning meal for them. A central core center at 1st Methodist in our town offers classes, work counsel and help in finding jobs, homes it is terrific. Many have been helped to turn their lives around.
