Goodness Naut I thought a man of your caliber would have tons of cash hidden away for emergencies. Also packs of snacks and drinks. one must not rely too much on the imagined comforts awaiting one. I expect I would need to tow a trailer loaded with necessities if I were traveling as you are.

My father went to Myrtle Beach right after Hurricane Irene came in 2011. It was very tough for him to find a place to fill up on account of all the power outages. He did find a trucker's filling station. He has a diesel.

I loved that drive down east over the many years I used to service the area. Keep driving safe my friend.

I suppose one should have a bit of cash in his sock just in case...

frustrating but still not too unpleasant since you found some company. And I expect you are well on the way to your destination by now. Wish we were there.

Wow! Hope it goes better now! When we were kids, my mother always insisted on physically inspecting the room(s) whenever we all checked into a motel while traveling. Odd, but perhaps wise. Keep cash, but not more than you can afford to lose, fill that tank, and keep snacks for 'just-in-case' times. Mama R. will stop now. The rest of the trip will be fine! Oh, and I had pictured a fat, black Caddie with dual pipes tooling down the road, not Officer Friendy... Enjoy!
