report it.One of the big 5 in Australia was not passing on the low interest rates to their customers, was adding bigger charges for transactions and keeping the Dividend down as far as they dared for shareholders. A fuss was made and they are paying back lots and lots of well not quaters big dollars.

You can't always bank on it love.

Unreal; goodness, what's next?!

Interesting post, TAPS. I have read that banks would like for the economy to become paper and coin free and operate solely on cards.

Re: CCT

I would imagine that is what it is--the packaging charge.

Perhaps with interest rates so low they are trying to make a profit on the packaging.

Re: Quarters, like ball bearings and scrap metal, make wonderful

Good Grief!  Is that what they think?

Quarters, like ball bearings and scrap metal, make wonderful

shrapnel for a terrorist explosive device - easy to get, raise no eyebrows... until now. It feels like the roots of discord are growing deeper into our everyday.

My reaction was exactly like yours: Wha-a-a-a-t?  Now I don't need quarters other than for the odd old parking meter that hasn't been replaced by one of the new ones yet, but I'm going to check with my bank! I think it's outrageous...

Oh dear, what a rip off TAPS. Never heard such a thing myself.

Thank you for your comment and what a co-incidence that you thought of me just yesterday! Been doing okay TAPS only have been busy with a lot of things, writing and other mundance stuff and now its eased up a bit. Good to see you doing great

Hmm, something sounds off here with this new banking practice... Next time I'm around the bank, I will ask about the quarter and the government, just as a matter of GP. What a hassle!

I did not know such an experience was happening.

When one of my banks (I do banking at three) asks me if I have an account when I am getting change, I say yes, and they trust me.

I have never been billed nor have my parents for getting change. I wonder if that practice is going to become more widespread.
