sounds to me like it has more to do with the swamp cooler than anything. He probably shouldn't have let you buy the house with it in there, and is worried that he may get into trouble. But what do I know.

It is tough with any three day holiday weekend getting any sort of answers to burning questions. I wish you well in getting the property they expect it to be in.
