I have tried really hard to think of a teacher who I wasn't really scared of, that I liked and there are none. Then at University undergrad. we were told that we weren't allowed to express a thought of our own that everything we wrote or said had to be backed by someone much smarter than us. It improved in post grad studies and I guess that was really the only study that I really enjoyed. S'pose that makes me a goat in a paddock of sheep. sigh!

Re: Dead Poets Society
I've enjoyed it several times, and wished the same thing...

Son #1 had one of those great teachers in what used to be Junior High. He is 55 and she was an old lady when he had her. He still talks about her by name and claims that she (in school) and his grandpa (outside of school) were the best teachers ever and that everything he learned they taught him.

A pity more teachers do not learn this. I never met any.

Did you see DEAD POETS SOCIETY? Robin Williams, as the professor of poetry, brings tears to my eyes, and the fervent wishing I'd had such a teacher!
