Pat-B - this is dramatic writing! You made me remember my escapes into the woods and how nature lessened the pain of the helplessness a child is feeling - so well done!

Rough times Pat, It was usually a death sentence, I can't help admiring your Mother she tried to do her best for you all however grim it seemed at the time. Women had to be strong in situations like this. As I am sure you were later in life.

Poor little fledglings. All of this was so hard on you and all of you total innocents. I said to Son #2 in Nov. when I met up with him and he was ...well anyway, I said to him that children of any age are always the innocent victims of divorce or adult trouble.

The realest part of this to me, maybe because I also found in the woods relief from home tribulations, was the walk in the woods. I could feel the healing of the powerlessness, the anxiety.
