Lanetay

One of the reasons my father died is because the insurance company wouldn't "call" his heart valve 'bad enough" at that point to perform surgery. They were waiting for it to get a little worse. By that time, his heart was weakened and he became ill and we lost him. On the other hand, many needless surgeries and tests are performed, in my opinion. Balance and common sense, combined with a care and concern for each individual's humanity and health needs, seem to be in order.

It is amazing what modern medicine can do.

That is a far stretch for me. Yes there are lots of personal gain, a man just went to prison here in the states. This man bought a drug company, loads of money. One of the drugs he then owned he jacked the price up about 15 times or some such. The government finally found a way and put him in prison for such graft. It is terrible. Surgery of that sort I would never seek, I think.

The same drugs that you pay those prices for in the States a free or almost free here. But that operation sounds like over doing surgery to me. My toes ache sometimes as do some of my fingers but No way wiould I have surgery. i would rather learn how to manage without using my thumb than do surgery for arthritis.

No doubt expensive drugs could have benefits, but as you say they are out of the reach of most people. I don't think I would too much about your thumb, it is better than most things.
