I keep the radio on in case of local alerts, and try to stay in the cool. Sitting there on the other side of the Plains, you be safe, too!

Fortunately for us, so far, we are not near any of the current burnings, and the tornadoes have not appeared in view. It's just really hot a lot which I find very debilitating when it gets up into the 80s and higher.
I hope your own summer is cooler and quieter!
