Lithium is out for me for the time being, since I'm nursing an infant. I also have some kidney troubles, so we'll see in the future. The main thing that concerns me is no longer being "myself". Who knows though - as neurotic and weird as I've been lately, not being "myself" might not be a bad thing.

I'm on two meds for the bipolar
I take Zoloft for the depressive phase and Zyprexa for the manic phase (Zyprexa is also used for some psychotic disorders). I don't take lithium because I have preexisting kidney disease, and lithium does some wierd things to the body's fluid balance. I'll be taking these drugs for the rest of my life because I can never escape being bipolar.

If you don't mind my asking...
and I understand if you don't want to mention it here, but what medication are you taking? I've been thinking about getting on something myself. My issues have less to do with being over the abuse (I think I am), and more to do with the conditioned behaviors that go with it. Any advice?
