Re: WileyJohn

Glad you liked it. Thank you very much. That happened a long time ago in another neighborhood, thank goodness!

RPresta

Loved your poetry and happy I don't live in your neighbourhood. LOL

Re: Kabu

And thank you, Kabu. Yes, I agree, nice not have snails around. But then it turned ugly. I love your idea of the cheap wine. LOL! And yes, an event like this would give one the horrors, and did! And to think he was an officer of the law - now that gives me the horrors. Strange folk, was 'e!

since I really am not a snail or slug sort of person, I could see the fun side of this ..if he was just collecting snails. I thought he might have better purpose but that wot he did was disgusting and enought to give a person the horrors. Lots of ways to get rid of the pests nicer than that. drop them into a bottle of cheap winde. They'll drown but at least they'll go down drunk!

very well written Y' know.

Re: BC-A

I smile. I haven't read Poe in years and years, but I like him. Even read him as a child...  Thanks, I think. :)

Re: Nautikos

Thanks, there is often the basis for humor in negative events. No, we didn't like him either. Who could? Fortunately, it was at a different house back in the '80s, as I mentioned to CC. It was not a nice event, and, there were numerous times he had to be told to leave the yard. If he would do such a thing to snails, pour gasoline on them and burn them, imagine what he'd do to a pet or a human! Very sick. Yes, he could have taken them into the field behind his house, as you said.

Re: Lanetay

Yep, that they were! Though I never saw them...

Re: FSI

Yes, he was bad news; it was a long time ago. Over the years there have been several neighbor incidents equally unusual; all in "good" neighborhoods. Glad your neighbors are fine. Mine seem fine here also.

Re: C_C_T

Thanks, guess it is different in story content. The snails weren't bothering anyone at my house, and he had no right to prowl around my property searching for them. Burning them in a metal pail on his property, which he did, was within his rights I suppose, but definitely in the 'sick' category, in my opinion.

The style reminds me of Poe love.

RP

You gave a nicely humorous twist to what was not really a nice event at all! I don't like your neighbour, and while I am not fond of slugs either, there ought to be more humane ways of dealing with them! I might collect them and set them out in the woods...

One can just feel the tension and bad vibes coming from that neighbor. Thankfully, all of my neighbors have been pretty good.

Obviously he had a crush on thee, thou shouldn't lean out of the window in yer nighty.

You see RPresta it is a job to hunt snails in the daytime. OK. A quite amusing piece of entertainment,.Of course if the Officer was a neighbor he was in his rights to protect his garden under the Slug and Snail act 1689( Thou shall not harbor mollusc's or snaegels .)

Well it might not apply in America.

Re: anibanerjee

Thank ye, now! Oops, I must stop that. Thank you. It was a fun tale to tell, not so much when it actually happened.LOL!

A wonderful tale told in an equally beautiful and humorous style. Very well done Presta.   I enjoyed.
