I have done that, too, buying when something when there was a cheaper price that was out there...The ending captures the pain.

Re: Kabu

I know Kabu ,but I just cannot be bothered , I have had about 6 reasons to make complaints this year the standard is quite poor. When one buys from a Garden center it is is usually a mature plant. I have bought such in the past but the postage has become outrageous.

Re: ChiffChaff

Ha ha,  you are the Kiddy Bro. It is a job with living things especially small roots by mail;

Firms do not give the money back easily or they would be ruined,

Re: RPresta

It is a bit different with these they are just part roots. Thank you it would not be a popular type of poem , but things pop out.

Re:Pat

Well it has not been much different the firms will insist on sending out roots these are from older plants which would be fine, but they cut them to the bare minimum and sometimes not even a dormant bud is there. I think I shall be able to take my own cuttings next year. Incidentally Janie, Archie's wife sent for a dozen from a firm I deal with not one grew. She is still battling with them.

I know that you are a master gardner and the plants should have

shouted hallelujah in your environment, so a call to the firm would not have been out of order. If I had been the one working with them, the survival of half would have been a very good outcome.  Love your wistful and tentative poems. So evocative.

Our nurseries carry a guarantee for a year on the plants. I have seen people carry in dead ones to have an adjustment made! your poem was so nice to read,with an u usual ending that made me want to read the whole poem over.

I would have rung up that firm and told them what I think of them. This year being a bit short of cash I have bought the cheap stuff but it is only seasonal stuff. i still can't get over the fact that geraniums die off in the Winter. I had some live for years down under.
