I have them regularly....just last month when I was home I walked into the kitchen and there was one in the sink - no idea how it got there. I took photos of it threatening me, I'll have to figure out again how to get it on here. I've been the victim twice in my life and the sting is incredibly painful, but not deadly from most species in the US. I remember when I was a child we would search out scorpion "skeletons" around the base of rock or brick buildings....and I was grown before I learned that it was a myth that the mother is the first real meal the young have. I was in college when I learned that these exoskeletons are a part of a scorpion's growth, and they shed many over the course of a lifetime. Just this last weekend my granddaughter was walking across their concrete floor, barefoot, when she spotted one just before stepping on it. Like I said, they are everywhere here...as are tarantulas, armadillos - yep, you name it, we have it due to hte mild climate, rocks everywhere and ready food sources (insects, lizards, etc.).

Makes me shivery I am glad our bugs are little ones. They seem to make nice little mothers though I'll give them that.

According to an insect specialist I once knew, the little ones pack more of a dangerous poison than the bigger ones. I would not like to meet up with any of them. I suppose they might be here, though, too, in Colorado.

Re: Pat_B
Don't pet any of them. We are warned that they carry Leprosy (Hansons Disease) with them.

It seems like every region has its own dangerous animal to contend with. Thankfully, I have never come across a scorpion and hope I never do.

I don't think we've got any here! I actually like spiders, but I might draw a line at scorpions...

Well, that pic definitely satisfies my fix on the "Yuck" factor meter for today! LOL! Phew! There are some here. A family member accidently brought one back from Mexico, hidden in a shoe, many years ago! It made it's appearance in my house.
