America's history has shown that the language of the motherland does get lost over time. These are different times, though, so I would not be surprised to see these statistics remain the same or even grow.

I like the way you mentioned constructing/writing a valid questionnaire has challenges. That is a point few consider...

Just wait till those kids get old enought to live on the American "Planet
High School" and learn peer culture to the exclusion of anyone vaguely resembling a parent or authority figure. What a culture shock it will be when the kids look at daddy and roll their eyes...

it takes three generations sometimes four to really assimilate and of course when there are so many religious and social differences well that makes it more difficult and no way is the suspicions and lack of trust one sided.
