Re: Re: WileyJohn
She just loved Canada and went back to England only once after the war and my oldest brother had been killed in the war by the Japanese. She flew over in a converted Lancaster Bomber.

Re: C_C_T
My grandma was a very, quiet, demure woman. I nudged as much info from her as was possible. She smoked those stoggies later in life, more like a social smoker and by the time she reached her 70s, I imagine she had earned the right to an occasional cigar puff! LOL! To the women of that time, their lives were not their own...and they accepted their fates, to a degree.

The Greek and Italian men used to leave Australia to go back home and collect themselves a bride. I am really enjoying this and hoping for more.

I think your grandma did not just scare the hell out of him at the time. I would have probably chosen her on condition she gave up the smokes. Yes a lovely tale, I bet you wished you had delved deeper at times. Fortunately men did not have to suffer that emotional turmoil.

Re: Lanetay
Oh, dear sweet lady, I beg to differ with you on both counts! You are wise, and wisdom such as yours cannot be taught, and you have 'looks,' for beauty reigns within and beams to a glow on the outside!
