It seems like with Islam, there is always a new worry manifesting itself. I also imagine this is happening at other airports.

Great post, and something that I have also been thinking about. Back when it was fun to fly, yeah waaay back, and there was no such thing as very formal airport security, I was actually stopped from boarding because a long loaf of Italian bread was poking out of my carry-on bag, literally, a brown paper bag. As was the custom in my family, my grandmother made sure that we always returned home with a care package of her baked goodies, one of which was the loaf of fresh bread! "They" inspected it, and my bread and I were allowed to board and fly home.

It does seem we have new worries to contend with, I notice the holiday flights are losing custom. It will continue to shake down. Hope you enjoyed your beer.

It all changed in 2001 with the takedown of the twin towers in NYC.
Not that flying was any picnic even before that. This latest crash into the sea just sends chills down the spine. Why can't we all just live and let live? (the unanswerable question, of course - it's because we're all such jerks.)

Hopefully, I have made my last checkin at Charles de Gaulle airport (or any other airport for that matter). What used to take about an hour wait in order to fly now takes hours and hours and hours of waiting in long, long, lines even here in good old KC. And that's not all I have against flying.
