Some adults are parents, some are children.

I think I am at least adolescent... But thank you for being a parent, for being there when and where you are most needed. The world would be a lot harder for every single person you've helped, if you weren't there.

WOW

Krisles,  I wondered what you were doing,  and now I know.  You are truly doing a valuable and precious and crucial job in this post-modern society of ours.  If you read my latest blog,  you will know what I mean.

My 90-year-old mother is on a rant that the current younger (liberal) generation not only has a feeling of false entitlement,  not only a hi-tech expectation of everything happening quickly to serve them,  snap,  snap,  snap......  but also a undercurrent of outright hostility towards old folks.  They accuse her generation of engulfing the world in war,  dropping the atomic bomb,  being bigots,  mistreating minorities,  etc.,  etc.  I wonder if you are encountering this in your work,  or in your life in general.  Mind you,  it is not stated in precise words,  but it is obvious in the actions and attitudes and non-verbal cues of many of the younger folks.

You should write philosophy,  my dear,  but it seems you do not have the time.  Actually,  you ARE writing philosophy,  and it is superb.

Forgive me, but I don't know what it is that you do. Is it crisis counseling? I agree with you completely, and commend you for helping, or attempting to help, those in need. They are not always their easiest people with whom to deal. And we all need to remember, it can be any one of us, at any time. Thank you for helping those people.

Yes it is rather demoralizing , some folk do not seem to have grown beyond their teenage years. I really don't know how you put up with it unless it is in a way therapy. Thank you for letting us know that you are OK.

Krtsles

Another one of your very insightful posts that would deserve a more detailed response then I can manage right now. Let me just say, in the most general sense, it's been my impression for a long time that many people live in a kind of 'Make-believe World' that makes it very difficult for them to cope when confronted with reality, as it invariably will, sooner or later...

I have three beautiful wonderful Grandchildren...well I have 5 but I don't know the other two... Now having cooed about them I worry. The smallest calamity in their lives is immediately helped with, if not absolutely solved by their parents. I wonder how they will cope as adults. They don't come from wealth. My son and DIL continue to work like the pioneers. Working their way into a very comfortable middle class life style without any real help. I wonder how those beautiful grandchildren will cope when one day Mum and Dad aren't there to solve everything for them.

Kudos to you for the wonderful job that you do every year and obviously with real class. BUT>>>I do miss you when you aren't here.

We have been getting rain, too, although not as much as you all have been receiving...I have noticed as well about how people assume that new is always better when in reality, that is no guarantee.
