Yes, this scene plays throughout history.

Well Naut I hate to put this point but are women treated any better in most so called civilized counties. Yes if they are superior in intelligence or wealthy or lucky. Most of the divorced women I have spoken too and not so far back in time have only been valued for their bodies. Years since they could not afford to get divorced and lived a miserable existence.  Of course there are many happy couples, but all is still not perfect.

I'd like to put my 2-cents' worth in here, but this particular story

of the interview "that never happened" according to the freak whose words were caught on tape, and his attitude, his threats against women hits a little too close to home for me to be objective. This extreme philosphy about the balance of power between men and women is not unknown in western societies. Lots of powerful men have been caught on camera making offhand 'jokes' or comments in which they want women to sit down, shut up and obey them.

Great report Nautikos

RAWA says the US "brought hell upon the people of Syria by supporting ISIS and Al Qaeda?"  We have made plenty of mistakes fighting them,  but we don't support them.

So these Afghan women want us out, yet we are their best hope for rights and freedom.  You are right,  there is no winning with these women,  or the rest of the Afghans.  Yet if we completely pulled out,  they would likely be yelling for help when Pakistan or Iran or Russia moved in.

Well, all I can say is that I am thankful that Grandson completed both of his deployments to Afghanistan safely and is now home.  His best friend in the Marines was killed there by a sniper.  He never talks about it of course, but I'm sure the memories have followed him home.
