It was mean and unfair.

Re: Fantastic portrait of the teacher; poor girl must have felt very deprived

She was a big fat orrible woman Pat.  Yes I suppose it soon goes , but sadly no-one has the will to look after invalids. They would work all the week for a quarter of the cost of keeping mum or Dad in their home. A wife will do it or a husband as a rule, but that's it.

Re:

Rpresta somethings one cannot forgive , once to keep up our vitamin levels we children were to be given a biscuit each day fortified according to our looks I assume. I remember mine was a nice brown one. On the first afternoon of distribution I was absent . My Dad was crippled up with lumbago and asked me to help him out that afternoon.

I following afternoon when the biscuits were given out, I did not get one. One of the girls  who lived near this teacher. Put up her hand and said, 'exuse me Miss. M. hasn't been given a biscuit. 'Well he was not here yesterday afternoon so he will not ever get one.' I mean it was nothing really, but it just seemed mean to me somehow.

Re: ChiffChaff

No it is about greed and power Bro. Chocolates are symbols of bribery. Have a creamy one Bro,

Re: CCT

Sadly it was almost true Naut. She was always picking on me. Of course it might have been for a reason that she was fighting.

Reading this makes me think about my own days in school...I like the idea of using chocolates for customer retention.

Love the poem.  So sorry about the old fellow who fell.  Difficult time of life.

CCT

Great wartime story! And you've drawn the devious teacher perfectly! And of course I wish Archie's poor old FIL all the best!

ChiffChaff

So it's really all about chocolates Bro.

What a great post! Tying the sharing and the chocolates in with the gas company and the free chocolates, intricately weaving the stories so we, as readers, never suspected! Good one. Yes, sharing, that was my first thought. Then greediness, my second. No, don't fall for the free candies. And a home for Archie's FIL, awful, so awful. Is there any other way?

Fantastic portrait of the teacher; poor girl must have felt very deprived

with no men left in town and no chocolate, either. Quite cheeky of her to be so open about it.  I hope your friend is okay - if he has to go in the home the money from selling his property will be gone too soon.

No don't be taken in by their welcome grin and a box od chocolates. ...From China I bet...as they take you to ythe cleaners at the pump.

First I read a poem about sharing

But later I guess I realized the clue in this entry: a box of chocolate.
