I've seen grackles - in the past, not here and not recently - and did not
know what they were called. Pretty with that sheen on their feathers. One thing Illinois has that we didn't have in western Washington are Cardinals. I really love seeing them, and there's a pair of them living somewhere in the neighborhood.

Sounds exciting Ciel our Blackbirds have young so I am feeding meal worms soaked in warm water. Black birds a bit thick they get a beak-full and instead of taking it back quickly and getting some more they keep trying to get the last tiny bit and usually drop the lot and have to start again. Something knocked all the dishes over last night we wondered if it was a hedgehog, I would put out some cat food, but I am wary of encouraging a rat.
