A happy event might require a miraculous event, as they are both female. Unless you mean some other sort of happy event...
Gerbils, like cats and goats, do tend to go up. But they seem to like burrowing, too.

Will they eat away their lovely stair set I wonder. They have so much to chew on no wonder they sleep soundly between eating and chewing. Very sweet.
