This forgotten English bit reminds me of a professor at our local

university who wrote a humor column on words/grammar for the daily paper. Nowadays they print news releases, "canned" news from the Associated Press and stuff the Chamber of Commerce wants to see. So disappointing, because it used to be full of news and great feature writing.

Yes rather different to how words evolve today, at least it does explain the gist.

Archie gets on my nerves sometimes he keeps saying I'll think of somethink. I am glad that grindy word is not used here.

Earthquake(s)

I can certainly see the etymology of the word! And I have experienced a few of those things along the San Andreas Fault. It was terrifying as a small child, and terrifying as an adult! People would stupidly (in my opinion) have earthquake drills at work places, but in the event of the real thing, no one is going to line up in an orderly fashion and stroll outside, or take cover under a desk, especially if the walls, ceilings and floors have crumbled and fallen. May "they" find the funding to further implement the Early Warning System; one of the biggest overlooked necessities needed for saving lives.

Wow, that is a new one for me. makes sense it also shows how the English language is still evolving. I enjoy these.
