Another thought for Naut

While the subject of God is very important,  for this philosophical discussion it is really a side issue.  I am trying to better understand and / or explain the rules of the game of life,  regardless of who is playing it with us,  or on what level.

For example,  there is this proposal from this post:  Every intelligent being in the universe shares a constant need for justice from others,  and a constant responsibility for justice to others.

If you and I can agree on that simple proposal,  which I see as a crucial fact of life,  then the rest will fall into place.  The more people that agree with it,  the more actions will be taken in accordance with it.  This is really all that we can do.....  put forth clear important ideas,  listen to the ideas of others,  and come to agreement and action.

Cheers

I am a little confused by your comment.  I think you are saying that the Universe is entirely indifferent to personal fates,  of individuals.  But in the subject of near-death experiences,  where people who should be dead come back to life,  with the most amazing stories of personal attention to them by metaphysical beings,  there is evidence that the subject's personal fate was completely reversed by metaphysical means.  Someday I will do a post about that.

But regardless of metaphysical / spiritual considerations,  the problems of justice must be solved,  and a better understanding of justice achieved,  for us to stop the rampant destructive predatory evil in the world.  With or without God,  we must do this.  My  "Theory of Justice"  is a way to do that,  in stark contrast to the  "Theory of Justice"  put forth by John Rawls,  and accepted by most of the liberal establishment.

I really appreciate the thought and work you're putting into all this. Not being entirely unfamiliar with these debates, I know the difficulties in grappling with everything related to 'justice'.

Of course "forces that are supposedly omnipotent, such as God or karma," are not, as you have quite rightly said, something for which you would have burned at the stake a mere 500 myears ago...Strangely enough, the notion of a non-all-powerful God begs even mor questions than the one of an all-powerful one, although I can't possibly get into all that right now - Bennie is callingme, LOL...Let me just say this: I know of nothing that would convince me the Universe is not entirely indifferent to personal fates...
