There are small electronic devices now that you can buy at Home Depot or hatrdware stores that emit a 'beyond our hearing disturbing sound' that work wonders at driving the mice out of the house.
WalMart sells this one which we have.

the sticky glue traps work for me....but it would be much easier if my kids would just leave the garage door closed!

Perhaps you could try sprinkling ground habanero powder all over your cabinets where you have seen evidence. Of course, if you do that, you will have to be especially careful working in your kitchen.

eeks Mice
Not my favorite...have lived through too many plagues in Australia. The cat litter idea seems a good one. Sassy is like my ladt cat. Frangipani caught one in 20 years and brought it to me. She cried like a baby when I took it ourside.
