You have to do what is best for you.  I can tell you that I was doing what you were doing.  I went to egypt and the doctor told me my body was shutting down.  He put me on bed rest for 6-12 months and told me if I didn't stay off my feet and get plenty of rest I could wind up in a wheel chair.  I took off those 6 months and never slept so much in my life!  It took a a couple of weeks to get used to it.  I don't regret it and felt so much better for doing it.

I remember working 3 jobs at the same time and doing a poor job at all of them. Working 16 hour days and for what!! But I was on that tread mill and forgot about smelling the roses. Then I had breast cancer and all that goes with that and that woke me up. Yes being independent is important but more important is earning less, spending less and enjoying the beauty in each day. Best drug of all so that is.

Yes, it sounds like you've put your finger on it... the cycle of

"too much" - pushing yourself, neglecting yourself - it's a never-ending cycle. Here's one idea; take a deep breath, hold it to a count of eight, then blow it out. Repeat this 8 or 10 times, focusing on the gentle intake and forceful exhaust. (Old trick to make the brain relax and change focus. Also tends to take away some of the unconscious tension. And find one (only one) piece of extravagant, luscious chocolate and savor it. Hugs!
