Really enjoyed your memories. One question though, why was it your job to get Ted's rations?

Re:Kabu
Well she kept her son at Oxford Kabu a bit of a deal in those days as her husband was killed in the first war, Irish he was. Was he brave I asked once. 'Silly bugger got himself killed when there was no need.' was the reply.

Re: I do enjoy these reminiscences!
I suppose what was normal is like an antique Ciel first experience tells more the tale more truthfully unless the narrator is telling porkies; Pork pies old London slang. Green- gages wages. Up the apples and pears. I shouldn't think many Cockney's use it now.

When I read what you and your neighbors went through in those days
I have to bow my head for complaining about how tough we had it then. It never rained fire from the sky on us, and we had our own chickens. Wow, what a mind trip. Thank you for giving me a bit of perspective.

Perhaps he was shy and did it when no one was looking. Perhaps he just beat her instead of cuddling. One never knows what goes on behind closed doors.
