I don't care for heights but will climb a ladder rarely, if I must!

Sorry for Abby's Daddy - I hope he's mending soon and well. I am fortunate - I've never had a bad experience with a ladder, but it wasn't for want of trying...

i am so sorry and I hope that the hospital and medical bills can be sorted. Thank God he finally went to the hospital and yes I am always wary of ladders. We have reached the stage when we almost always pay someone to do anything that requires a ladder.

I'm so sorry
This is very personal to me not because it happened, but because I have been doing construction for thirty years and did not know the statistics then or now. Of course I knew people who have fallen. Thanks for the extra added awareness and hope all be well with your family member.

It happens so quickly I always used an aluminum ladder and always tied it securely to something. When I had to paint the eaves I took a tranquilizer. Not very wise thinking about it. I use the ladder to hold pots in the greenhouse now. Poor chap it could have been so worse.

I avoid ladder's like the plague out of a fear of heights...I hope that he is feeling better.
I saw that you asked me in a comment to one of my blogs if we still have some snow on the ground. Yes, we do.

I was about to borrow my son's 7' ladder so I could reach the upper
corner of the wall I'm painting. The solid little stepladder I've been using just won't reach that high, but painters cost a lot of $$$. Maybe I'll just paint the ceiling the same color and use a long pole to hold the roller.... I'm sorry to hear about little Abby's daddy, that sounds like a painful and extremely inconvenient mess.

very sorry to hear about Abby's daddy's injuries
and I appreciate the warning, though, like you, I don't do ladders. I barely do 2-step plastic steps.
