I believe 'they' had to combine the two different president's days' celebrations into one to allow for the addition of Martin Luther King Day! Columbus Day was the first to go prior to that, if my Dark Ages History memory is semi-correct! At least, that's my opinion at the moment. Don't hold me to that, though! LOL!
