Point well taken... perhaps I should revise the title to "The Greatest Problem of Conscious Entities Residing in the Sublimely Unconscious Universe"..... but that won't fit in the little window that Blogit gives us, LOL
I thought you would appreciate me boiling it all down to pleasure and pain, like Pavlov's dogs, I believe it was. No, sorry, that was conditioned response, more on the pleasure side. This is a little more sophisticated than that, but still somewhat related. Pain is the best teacher and motivator, or at least the most effective, and those I deem as evil are the most effective in its use.

Again - interesting, but...To speak of Evil (or the conflict between Good and Evil) as the 'greatest problem in the Universe' is assigning a far too prominent role to human consciousness. The Universe is a phenomenon of sublime indifference; 'Good' and 'Evil' as well as 'Justice' are emergent conditions of that human consciousness - they do not 'reside' outside of it - and can be properly understood only within the context of history, i.e. human activity in all its forms throughout the ages...
